What
is the Cincy Golf-a-thon?
The Cincy Golf-a-thon is a unique twist to the traditional golf tournament. Unlike most tournaments, there is no entry fee or mandatory cost to the golfer. Where you would normally play 18 holes, you play 100! Read on though, because it?s easier than it sounds!
How does it work?
Golfers play in threesomes. All golfers commit to raising a minimum of $2,500 in pledges. It?s quite simply $25 per hole. Anyone could get 25 people to give him or her $1 a hole in the blink of an eye! And?we have everything that you?ll need to make this happen, including pre-printed pledge letters to send out to friends, family, co-workers, etc. Each player can recruit a caddie for the day. This is someone who can help them find balls, rake sand traps, and maybe even play a few holes for the golfer. Incentive prizes are awarded to the top three fundraisers per tournament that raised a minimum of $2,500, and consist of fabulous trips and much more!
Every golfer plays a minimum of three balls per hole in a mini-scramble. You tee off three balls, go to your own personal best ball, and hit three more. You continue this trend and before you know it you?ve played your 100 holes while only physically playing 36. Actually, you could even play more balls per hole if you?d like. That?s the beauty of this tournament, there are few rules and you don?t have to be an expert golfer to play! Golfers can play five or six balls on the 3 pars, and that really speeds things up! You might only end up having to play 20 to 24 holes!

"I must admit I was a skeptic when I was
first approached to play in the 2001 SFF/One Way Farm Golf-a-thon. I thought it
might be a challenge to raise the money. However, after one week I had reached my
goal, and by the time of the event had raised close to $8,000. I asked 51 people
to sponsor me, and out of those 51, 47 did. What a great feeling to have
that kind of personal support, and for such a great cause!"

"'Thunder is Great, Thunder is Impressive, but it is the Lightening
that does the Work!' This quot is befitting of one of the most hard working
charitable families in our area, The Smith Family. After working closly
with the family for over two years now, we have seen first hand that they
just don't talk about doing good things for people, they dedicate their
lives in making miricles happen. Gale, Laura and their children and grandchildren
are creating a wonderful legacy for Tri-State children and we are blessed by their
kindness and generosity."
